An independent company, M&I Materials Ltd has built a strong global business based on
delivering technical excellence and high standards of customer service to niche markets
worldwide. Born out of the research division of GEC-Alstom, M&I Materials combines the proven pedigree of long-standing products –
known and trusted by customers - with the research and development expertise to bring new solutions to market. Its
business and its reputation on proven products, backed by specialist applications
expertise. The longest standing products in the M&I Materials portfolio have been
serving the market successfully for more than 50 years.

M&I Materials’ technical and engineering teams are focused on applications optimization
and product development. We run our own dedicated R&D facility, and work closely with
external research and test laboratories around the world, including the Schering Institute
in Germany, CESI in Italy and TjH2B in the UK. These product portfolios included:-

WOLFMET®
Specialist tungsten alloy components. High density tungsten
alloy used to add balance or vibration damping mass and
provides one of the most effective radiation shields available.

METROSIL®
SiC Varistors. A range of non-linear resistors used to protect equipment and electrical insulation from the effects of

over voltages.

MIDEL®
High performance transformer fluids. A range of esters that combine high fire point
classification and moisture tolerance with excellent environmental properties.

High vacuum lubricants and sealants. A range of specialist greases, oils and waxes for
industrial and scientific high vacuum process applications.
